Thank you, Lowe’s!

Wonderful news!  Last week, Grout Elementary was awarded a 2012 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant in support of the Language Garden Tile Mural Project from the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation.  We’re absolutely jumping for joy!  The grant will ensure that, besides our materials, supplies, and outreach for the mural ( thanks to SE Uplift ), much-needed infrastructure will be created to complete the welcoming, multi-use space we have long dreamed of!  Many thanks to Lowe’s for this amazing, generous gift!

Tile creation continues at a vigorous clip.  Adding to the fabulous work done by 1st and 2nd graders, 2 kindergarten classes and one 3rd grade classroom have made tiles!  Glazing is happening in many classrooms, and is proving to be a fun adventure exploring a new medium with surprising qualities.  Big shout-out to Atkinson Elementary and Diane Jacobs for sharing experience, knowledge and equipment – your encouragement is inspiring!
